A Little Background on "A Little Help" (formerly Washington Park Cares)
The mission of A Little Help is to both provide opportunities for social connection and to help neighborhood seniors connect with services and resources to continue life on their own terms, with dignity and independence, in their own homes (neighbors helping neighbors). We provide our members with a variety of services such as transportation, yard work, and minor home repair, by volunteers or preferred providers, as well as offering opportunities for socialization and community engagement. Our service area is shown in "Our Neighborhoods" under the "About Us" tab.
We changed our name to reflect our growth and more diverse service area. We know there are many people who need, and want, to be members of our organization; we also know that many of those 11, 000+ potential members have never heard of us. That is changing.
Our members have made the choice of staying at home, with "a little help" from their friends and neighbors, versus moving to assisted living (with a lot of help). Studies show that living in the comfort of our own homes is the best, and most cost-effective, choice of most people.
With our growth in members and services, we continue to grow our need for resources: volunteers, and financial support for our programs. Your financial support, no matter the amount, is always deeply appreciated. Thank you.
