Since its inception in 2005, A Little Help has grown in a grassroots way with the help of great neighbors volunteering to lead the charge in their communities. Our lean, efficient staff supports our volunteers and community efforts as we grow organically block by block. A Little Help’s South Central Neighborhood was our initial founding site, then known as Washington Park Cares. With the help of committed neighbors and board members, we’ve be able to impact more elders throughout Metro Denver and beyond by growing in geographic Neighborhoods.
A Little Help is always looking for neighborhood teams of dedicated volunteers who want to see the older adults on their own blocks and beyond thrive. This community movement helps us honor the elders throughout Denver neighborhoods by utilizing the folks around them.
Help us help our communities! If you’d like to join or start a Neighborhood Team of volunteers who meet monthly to plan activities and to reach out to local businesses, organizations, and events, please contact Tanya, our Member Coordinator us in the office at 720-242-9032.
Come see A Little Help at one of the many community events we’ve been invited to participate in like Farmers’ Markets, community garage sales, and street festivals. We’d love to reach out at other events in the neighborhood if you have suggestions!
In the summer, we host summer picnics in neighbors’ yards or community parks at 5:30 p.m. through September. Please call the office for location details (720-242-9032).
In the spring and fall, we equip teams of volunteers during Service Saturdays! to work at our members’ homes in each of our Neighborhoods! We would love to serve more seniors at this big yard and home chore event next season- let us know if you or a neighbor need your leaves raked, windows washed, or gardens weeded! We can always accept more volunteers for these event too, let us know if you’re ready to get your hands dirty!
