Steve was born and raised in Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. degree in Speech/Communication. Upon graduating from the U of M, he spent three years in radio before finding his calling with the YMCA. Starting out as a Youth Director for the YMCA in La Crosse, WI, he went on to have a 31 year career with the YMCA, working for 5 different YMCAs in Wisconsin, Kentucky, Ohio and finally as the Executive Director for the Rochester Area YMCA, where he retired at the end of 2016.
Steve, along with his wife, Stephanie, moved to Johnstown in December of 2017. Feeling compelled to continue to his calling for nonprofit work, he took on a contract job as a Development Specialist for the Aurora Community Connection in Denver. When the contract ended, he discovered ALH and was hired in March of 2019 as the Berthoud Coordinator.
Steve is an avid sports fan of all things Minnesota and enjoys being outdoors playing golf, hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park and camping under the stars. He and Stephanie are avid tennis players and enjoy playing bridge together. He is a current Rotarian in Johnstown and attends (with his wife) Zion Lutheran Church in Loveland.
