A Little Help in Chaffee County is our rural effort to serve elders and their neighbors in Salida, Buena Vista, Poncha Springs, Nathrop, Monarch, Granite, Howard, Cotopaxi, and beyond. We launched our services in Salida in Winter 2015 and continue to recruit new volunteers and senior members. If you would like to get involved in this effort, please contact the office at 719-966-7366 or, or sign up with the appropriate application on the right.

We are looking for volunteers to help with outreach and event planning, direct services for our elders (transportation, yard and home chores, handy and technology help, friendly visits…), and strategic planning.

We are looking for elder members who may need a little help with work around the house and yard, driving to medical appointments, grocery stores, and social events, changing light bulbs or other handy projects, caregiver respite, or socially engaging with neighbors.

If you know folks who may need a little help, we’re happy to contact them. Or please provide our contact information and we’ll look forward to taking their calls.

Upcoming Service Saturday!

Our fall Chaffee County Service Saturday! is October 21st from 8 a.m. to noon, meeting at Salida First Presbyterian Church (7 Poncha Blvd.). And we’ll meet up afterward for a picnic with everyone at Chisholm Park!

Service Saturdays! begin with coffee and pastries as we split into work teams and continue until noon as we serve at our members’ homes. Service Saturdays! are an opportunity for our seniors to have a little help with various yard and home chores like weeding, cutting down vines, raking leaves, cleaning out refrigerators, flipping mattresses, dusting high fans and mirrors, bringing out patio furniture, and completing handy fixes. And it’s a chance for individuals, families with young children, and groups to volunteer- our age range of volunteers is 2 to 89 years old and we’re happy to coordinate groups like corporate volunteers, church groups, scout troops, and AmeriCorps members.

If you’d like to volunteer as an individual or group, or would like to receive a little help on yard and home chores, please RSVP to the office by calling 719-966-7366 or clicking here. We’ve invited volunteers from all of our Branches to join us in Chaffee County for this wonderful event; if you are a Chaffee volunteer and would like to host an out-of-town volunteer or two for the weekend, please let us know!
