Volunteer Event Opportunity To Serve South Denver Seniors

Help Seniors Remain in Their Homes by Lending a Helping Hand

DENVER, Colo. September 13, 2012 – A Little Help is a local Denver nonprofit that connects neighbors to foster community and help seniors remain in their homes.  Service Saturdays! are twice-yearly events providing volunteer assistance for seniors in south central Denver with various home maintenance jobs, cleaning, organizing, raking, and other household tasks and the next opportunity to help your neighbors is October 13th!

Our first ever Service Saturday! in May was a tremendous success.  We had a large crew of volunteers who showed up in the rain to clean gutters, wash windows, pull weeds, prepare soil, trim bushes, and do some garage and basement clean-outs.  One of the really great things about Service Saturday! was having an age range of over 70 years between our oldest and youngest volunteer.  The event was a great experience for all who volunteered and a big help for all the seniors who participated.  On October 13th, we look forward to even bigger things!

Service Saturday! event volunteers join trained A Little Help volunteers to form small teams and tackle a multitude of tasks.  We welcome volunteers from companies, churches, groups, families, and individuals.  Service Saturdays! run from 8am – noon and begin with coffee and pastries. Our fall Service Saturday! will take place on October 13th and we will meet at South High School at 8am. Parking is available in the teachers’ lot behind the school entering from High St on the east side of the building.  There’s no minimum (or maximum) age- invite the whole family! To RSVP call us at the office at 720-242-9032.

A Little Help provides seniors with essential services that promote independence and support social and cognitive activity so seniors may enjoy improved quality of life within community. We serve thirteen neighborhoods in south central Denver. We welcome seniors who may need a little help maintaining the house, getting to appointments, or connecting with neighbors. We also welcome neighbors who would like to forge meaningful relationships with their aging neighbors by providing a helping hand or just a friendly visit. If you’re interested in creating a senior village in a neighboring community, we’ll help you get started!
