A Little Help began in the Denver area in 2005 with a simple model, neighbors helping neighbors. The Eichelbergers and a few of their neighbors, together around kitchen tables and living room coffee tables, founded Washington Park Cares, which became A Little Help. After learned about the village model to empower older neighbors to age in place, our founders gathered neighbors, held community meetings, and began raising funds and forming their Board of Directors. In 2007, Washington Park Cares registered with the IRS and State of Colorado as a 501(c)(3). Our early board took the leap to hire our first full-time Executive Director, Dr. Paul Leon Ramsey, in November 2011 and the rest is history. We've been innovating upon the model and finding ways to be more inclusive and efficient and continue to grow throughout Metro Denver and beyond. In 2016, we launched services and programming in Jefferson County and now continue to grow in neighboring Arapahoe, Adams, and Douglas Counties as the need for services and neighborly connection grows.
If you would like to see more of A Little Help in your neighborhood, we would love to hear from you. We are always looking for folks who want to help us get things started. It all starts with volunteers who are ready and willing to give just a little help and time.
